The Chairman of the Oyo State Housing Corporation, Hon. Ademola Omotoso, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the successful release of the pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area, describing the development as a source of joy and renewed hope for the people of Oyo State.
The release of the victims, who were kidnapped during an attack on schools in Ahoro-Esinle community, was announced on Friday after spending several weeks in captivity.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, Omotoso praised Governor Makinde for his commitment, resilience and contributions to the efforts that culminated in the successful rescue of the victims.
”I heartily congratulate His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, on the safe release of the abducted pupils and teachers. This is a joyous moment not only for their families but also for every resident of Oyo State who stood in prayer and hope throughout this difficult period,” he said.
”Governor Makinde’s unwavering commitment throughout the rescue operation deserves commendation. His resilience, steadfastness and dedication to the safety and well-being of the people of Oyo State remain exemplary,” Omotoso added.
The Housing Corporation chairman also lauded the dedication and professionalism of the security agencies, saying their coordinated efforts and sacrifices played a vital role in ensuring the successful release of the victims.
According to him, the rescue operation has reinforced public confidence in the capacity of the government and security agencies to respond effectively to security challenges through collaboration and sustained commitment.
Omotoso urged residents of the state to remain vigilant and continue partnering with security agencies by providing useful and timely information capable of preventing criminal activities and enhancing public safety.
He also called for sustained investment in intelligence gathering and community-based security initiatives to strengthen the protection of schools and rural communities across the state.
The chairman expressed optimism that the successful rescue of the victims would inspire renewed commitment among all stakeholders to building a safer Oyo State, while praying for the speedy physical and emotional recovery of the released pupils and teachers as they reunite with their families.
