Association of Muslim Women Seeks Govt Support in the Fight Against Rape
The Federation of Muslim Women’s Association Nigeria, Oyo state branch, Lagelu chapter on Wednesday held peaceful protest at Lagelu North LCDA to seek govt support in the fight against rape and gender based violence.
Speaking on behalf of the association, Alhaja Khadijat Adeyemi who doubles as the Welfare officer of Lagelu local Government chapter said, “we are here to lend her voices and to register our displeasure on the rising cases of rape and gender based violence in Oyo state.”
“Our lives are threatened, enough is enough, we want government at grassroots to do something about the menace. We demand justice for late Barakat and Azeezat.”
On his part, the Caretaker Secretary Hon Kamorudeen Mudashiru who responded on behalf of the Caretaker chairman Hon Babalola, took time to explain the activities lined up by the Oyo state government in fight against rape and gender based violence in Oyo state and various Local govt councils. He assured the group of readiness of the council to support the state government to nip the menace in the bud.
The HLA of the local government, Surv. Mrs Adebimpe Bosede.A also charged the group on how to get across to more villages in the community on enlightenment and on how to be vigilant in their various community.
