Oyo Govt Relocates Ojoo Road Side Traders to Akinyele South LCDA
Oyo State Government on Thursday completed the process of relocating displaced road side traders at the popular Ojoo roundabout to a new venue at Abataka, beside total filling station, old Moniya road, Ojoo, Ibadan.
The process, which commenced on Thursday saw the Oyo State Government providing the traders with about 300 hectares of land at the new venue.
At the handing over of the new market space to Akinyele South LCDA authority, Commissioner for Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Prof Raphael Afonjas explained that Governor Makinde had repeatedly advised traders not to display their wares at the roadside, hence the need to provide alternative for the traders within Ojoo axis.
Afonja added that the new venue has been provided with a sleeper road that ensures that traffic in and out of the new market does not adversely affect the highway.
The Commissioner noted that in a bid to ensure that the traders do their business in a conducive, secured and healthy environment, Governor Makinde equally ensured that the new market is provided with not less than 2 boreholes and toilets
While welcoming the traders to the new location, the Caretaker Chairman, Akinyele South LCDA, Hon Kazeem Adekunle assured them of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration determination to provide them a modern market fitted with Fire Service center, modern stalls, a police station, as well as other services.
Hon Kazeem equally thanked Governor Seyi Makinde for being sensitive and responsive to the plight of the traders.
