Oyo State government has entered into partnership with a charity group, Latter Day Saint Charities, based in America to dig over 100 modern boreholes in rural communities in the State.

The charity group has earlier dug 25 boreholes throughout the State in 2019 in collaboration with the State’ Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (Oyo RUWASSA) that paid a counterpart funding for each of the boreholes.

In a letter presented to the representatives of Latter Day Saint Charities on Tuesday at Ibadan and signed by the Secretary to the State government, Mrs Olubamiwo Aseosun, the State government expressed profound gratitude for the support and humanitarian services provided by the church.

Presenting the letter at his office, the Chairman, RUWASSA, Engr. Najeem Omirinde said the affection showed by the charity group to the less privileged was a reflection of Godliness.

Reading the letter, Omirinde said “I write to express our profound gratitude for the unflinching support and humanitarian services to the State in the provision of clean water project since inception of the programme in 2015.

“I am aware that your Charity organization has provided 25 world class standard boreholes to the books and crannies of the State through the Oyo State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA), your organization has demonstrated a high sense of commitment in the areas of corporate social responsibility to uplift the standard of living of our people.

“As a State, we are proud of the partnership with you and looking forward for more robust and sustaining relationship in the future,” he said.

Engr. Omirinde said the State was ready to dig over 100 boreholes across the State, especially at the rural communities with the support of the Charity organization.

In his words, the State’s Project Coordinator of Latter Day Saint Charities, Bishop Christopher Onwumah said with God’s support, the request for 100 boreholes for the year 2020 project would be possible since the State was ready to pay the counterpart funding.

He disclosed that works would have started but for the restriction imposed on international traveling which impeded the organization’s foreign partners from arriving Nigeria.

At the presentation was the Stake President of Latter Day Saint Charities, Olubukola Peter Apantaku, the General Manager RUWASSA, Mr Adeduntan Adeniyi, Director Communication, Mobilization and Hygiene Education for RUWASSA, Mr Ayodele Adegoke and Alhaji Olayiwola Sikiru who is the Director of Water Supply.
