The Caretaker Chairman of Omi-Apata Local Council Development Area, Hon Sheriff Adeojo has distributed empowerment materials to persons with disabilities and financial assistance to aged in the council area.
While delivering his address at the occasion, Hon Sheriff Adeojo said “the programme was borne out of his passion to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged and determination to ensure every citizen of Omi-Apata LCDA feels the impact of the present administration in the council area.”
The council chairman then urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of all the materials which include sewing machines, deep freezers, wheel chairs, vulcanising machine, grinding machine, bricklaying equipment, hair dryers for persons with disabilities and financial empowerment for aged people in the council area.
In her remarks the former first lady of Oyo State, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja represented by Mrs Omowonuola Adisa gave Kudos to the chairman for making persons with disabilities to be self-reliant and considering aged in the scheme of things.
The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Persons with Disabilities Barrister Ayodele Adekambi also commended the council chairman for sharing dividends of democracy without any discrimination and charged all other council chairmen in the state to emulate the good deeds of Omi-Apata LCDA Chairman by empowering persons with disabilities in order to end street begging.
Other eminent personalities that graced the occasion Hon Razaq Mabaje state Honourable representing Ido Local Government, Hon (Dr) Aderemi Ayodele Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Hon Ayuba Akinsola PDP Chairman Ido LG, party leaders, traditional rulers in their remarks applauded Hon Sheriff Adeojo for organising the empowerment programme to better the lots of the less privileged in Omi-Apata LCDA.
Mrs Oyinkansola Oladapo and Mr. Moses Adedeji who responded on behalf of the beneficiaries appreciated Hon Sheriff Adeojo for making life more bearable for them through the distribution of the empowerment materials to persons with disabilities and financial assistance to the aged.
The programme was graced by Secretary to the Local Government, Omi-Apata LCDA Hon Samod Busari, caretaker members, management team led by the Acting Head of Local Government Administration Mr A. A Busari, party chieftains, traditional rulers, religious leaders, Community leaders and a host of others.
