Rural Communities Laud Makinde As CSDA Winds Off Projects
As the Community and Social Development Project is winding up in the year 2020, beneficiaries of micro projects in Kukumada, Ogungbade, Oganla, Isokan, Oyotoro, kajorepo Anuoluwapo and Temidire in Sooro Local Community Development Area (LCDA), Egbeda local government, Ido local government and Akinyele local government respectively, have showered encomium on Oyo state Government for partnering with the world Bank in implementation of life-saving projects in their communities.
They made the joyful commendations during a participatory monitoring and evaluation visit to some of communities where the intervention projects were located in Sooro LCDA, Egbeda , Ido, Akinyele Local Government Areas of the State.
The visit which involved the Ministries, Departments and Agencies Desk Officers, availed them the opportunity to assess the impact of projects on dwellers of various communities of intervention.
According to the Acting General Manager of the OYCSDA, Engr Abisola Adabanija, she said having completed and handed over projects to beneficiary communities , the agency needed to access the impacts and evaluate all the projects in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
Addressing the team, she said “you are going to communities where projects were sited now to see for yourself some of the projects implemented by the communities and funded by the Word Bank through the OYCSDA.
“The expectation of the State Government is to ensure that the communities make good use of them since they are the one that requested for them,” she said.
According to one of the residents of Isokan Community in Akinyele Local Government Area, Mr Yinusa Adeoye, the procurement and installation of 500KVA transformer and rehabilitation of electricity extension which was billed to serve four different communities with population of over 500 residents, has brought the community out of darkness while the development was boosting the economic activities of the area.
Also in Kajorepo community, Kukumada in Egbeda Local Government Area, where construction of Primary health centre was funded by the agency, a middle aged woman, Mrs Abosede Ayinla, appreciated the efforts of the world Bank and the State Government for the construction of the health centre.
“Those of us that are of child bearing age have experienced a difficult tasks in the pass, the facility has really helped in saving lives and reduced maternal and child mortality,” She said.
The community also voted for construction of a Police Station after witnessing cases of armed robbery for many years.
According to SP Oyebode Ademola of Ogungbade police station, who stated that the facility has reduced the level of crime rate in the area.
Similarly, residents of Temidire community, Oganla also expressed joy over the construction of a block of 3 classrooms at Baptist Primary School, Oganla.
The Principal of the school confirmed that the construction of the classrooms has increased the number of pupils in the school while teachers werere also happy to work in a conducive atmosphere.
The Agency therefore appealed to benefiting communities to ensure proper maintenance of the projects in their respective communities, as another programme under World Bank initiative called Covid -19 Action Response and Economic Stimulus (CAREs) would soon come up.
