A Cry from the Hearts of the People: Olorunsogo–gbedun 6-Lane Road

Every great development comes with sacrifice, but the pain currently being endured by thousands of residents, workers, traders, students, worshippers, and visitors along the Olorunsogo–gbedun road is immense.

Day after day, families wake up before dawn only to spend hours navigating dust, potholes, traffic congestion, and difficult diversions. Commercial drivers struggle to earn a living as vehicles break down, transport costs rise, and businesses suffer.

Ambulances, school children, pregnant women, and the elderly all face the same daily hardship.
We acknowledge and appreciate the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration in constructing the new six-lane Olorunsogo–Ilaji road, a project that promises to transform Ona-Ara Local Government and unlock greater economic opportunities for Oyo State. The expansion is intended to improve access and stimulate development.

However, while the destination is promising, the journey has become a burden for many. The suffering of the people should not be overlooked.

Our humble appeal is that the contractor be further supported and encouraged to accelerate the pace of work where possible, improve traffic management, water dusty sections regularly, and ensure temporary access roads remain safe and passable. Every additional effort can reduce the hardship experienced by the public.

The people of Olorunsogo, Akanran, and Ilaji are resilient. They are not asking for miracles—only that their daily sacrifices be remembered as this important infrastructure is delivered.

May this road, when completed, become a lasting symbol of progress, economic growth, and better lives for generations to come. Until then, may compassion, urgency, and commitment guide every step of the construction process.
