    …Hails Gov Makinde

A prominent Mogaji in Oyo State, Abass Oloko, has praised the Oyo State House of Assembly for its decision to implement a rotational chairmanship for the Council of Obas.

Thesignificant amendment allowed leadership to be shared among the Alaafin of Oyo, the Olubadan, and the Soun of Ogbomoso, marking a progressive shift in traditional governance.

Oloko, a respected figure within the community, in a statement, stressed the importance of the decision, noting that it reflected the assembly’s responsiveness to the voices of various stakeholders, including Mogajis, community leaders, and citizens.

He highlighted that the rotational system not only honours the historical significance of each traditional title but also promotes unity and collaboration among Oyo’s revered leaders.

Oloko expressed gratitude to the assembly for yielding to pressure from the community, which had voiced concerns over the previous proposal to grant the Alaafin permanent chairmanship.

He indicated that the change is a triumph for inclusivity, ensuring that all traditional leaders have a stake in the governance of Oyo State.

Similarly, Oloko hailed Governor Seyi Makinde for his support of the amendment, recogniding the governor’s commitment to fostering cooperation among traditional institutions.

He noted that such leadership is crucial for preserving the rich cultural heritage of Oyo State and for promoting a harmonious relationship among its traditional rulers.

Oloko also urged other leaders to embrace collaborative governance, emphasising that shared leadership can enhance community development and strengthen the bonds between the people and their leaders.
