The Akibio of Ilora land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Stephen Ilufemi Oparinde 11 JP has commiserated with families who lost loved ones at a funfair event held at Islamic Model School, Bashorun, Ibadan on Wednesday.
The stampede led to the deaths of 35 children while others sustained injuries.
The monarch expressed shock over the incident, describing it as a sad and unfortunate occurrence.
Oba Oparinde equally commended Governor Seyi Makinde, for the proactive steps taken to support those injured at the stampede with the quick arrival of rapid response team at the scene of the incident.
The monarch prayed that God grants the deceased eternal rest and grant the families fortitude to bear the losses adding that it is a loss not only for their families but for Ibadan and Oyo State as a whole.
