The Nigerian Beauticians and Hairdressers Association (NBHA), Oyo State Chapter, on Thursday, November 20, 2025, held the grand finale of its 44th Anniversary and 2025 Hair & Beauty Exhibition at the Jogor Events Centre, Ibadan. The event attracted dignitaries, industry stakeholders, and over 1,000 members from across the state.
The celebration, hosted by the Life Grand Patron of the Association, Oloye Benedict Akika, showcased the strength, creativity, and unity within the hair and beauty profession in Oyo State.
Declaring the programme open, the Special Guest of Honour, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, FNSE, Asiwaju of Oluyole and Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, commended the association for its commitment to professional development. He assured members of his continued support in alignment with the people-focused leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
In her welcome address, the President of NBHA Oyo State, Chief (Mrs.) Toyin Oladapo, expressed appreciation to members and applauded the generosity of the Life Grand Patron, Oloye Akika, for providing a generator and borehole for Asewa House. She appealed to guests for further assistance towards the development of the Asewa House / Hair Academy.
The Chairman of the Day, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON), who represents Ibadan North Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, praised the association especially members from his constituency for their support during the recent bye-election. He encouraged hair stylists to uphold excellence, stating, “What’s worth doing at all is worth doing well,” and urged them to stay updated in their profession.
The Founder of the association, Chief (Mrs.) Olubunmi Adesanya, also addressed attendees, expressing gratitude to all guests and commending the impactful contributions of Life Grand Patron Akika, whom she likened to Governor Makinde for his consistent support. She equally invites all to her 80th birthday on July 25 2026.
Other dignitaries present were Her Imperial Majesty Olori Bukola Ladoja, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole Wolekanle; the Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, Chief Yusuff Afolabi; Secretary of Akinyele Local Government, Akogun of Oluyole, Oyinbo Oni Cement, the husband of the president Alhaji (Chief) Oladapo, Alhaji Yusuf among others.
The vibrant grand finale featured cultural performances, the presentation of awards, recognition of the Best Stylist of the Year 2025, anniversary cake cutting, and lively entertainment.
The NBHA Anniversary is traditionally a three-day event, beginning with Cultural Day on Tuesday, Asewa Oge Day on Wednesday, and culminating in the Exhibition and Grand Finale on Thursday.
