In a decisive effort to reinforce grassroots security and protect lives and property, Akinyele Local Government has uncovered and sealed an illegal brothel discovered to be operating as a criminal hideout within the council area.

The operation, which reflected the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on crime and criminality, was carried out at the Akinyele axis of Ward 6 following credible intelligence reports and sustained security surveillance.

The enforcement exercise was personally led by the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, alongside members of the Local Government Security Council.

Their presence at the scene underscored the seriousness of the operation and demonstrated the administration’s commitment to proactive leadership in confronting security threats head-on rather than responding after harm has occurred.

During the raid, the illegal brothel was uncovered as a hub for criminal activities, serving as both a hideout and a coordination centre for suspected criminals.

Brothel keepers and procurers operating the facility were arrested at the scene and subsequently handed over to the relevant security agencies for thorough investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.

Following the sealing of the premises, the Local Government announced that the structure has been marked for demolition.

This measure is aimed at preventing a recurrence and sending a strong warning to individuals or groups who harbour criminal elements within residential communities.

The action also aligns with the Local Government’s ongoing efforts to sanitise the environment and restore peace to affected neighbourhoods.

Reaffirming the administration’s resolve, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye stated that the Local Government would continue to strengthen the security architecture across all wards in Akinyele Local Government, replicating the commendable efforts of his Principal, Governor Seyi Makinde.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information.

He further emphasised that under his leadership, Akinyele would not serve as a safe haven for crime, but would remain a secure and peaceful community where law-abiding citizens can live, work and thrive without fear.
