As part of activities lined up to mark 50th birthday of Iku Baba Yeye,the Alaafin of Oyo Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, His Imperial Majesty commissioned the ultra modern Staff Quarters provided for NSCDC Agro Rangers, Oyo Patrol Base, declaring that the efforts was a welcome development and beginning of more good things in Oyo land.
Speaking shortly before the official commissioning, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owoade appreciated the NSCDC Agro Rangers officials , commended the facilitator of the project, Imam (Sheikh) Daud Igi Ogun, for his exceptional love for Oyo’s development.
The revered monarch also used the well attended occasion to commend the four Local Government Chairmen in Oyo who jointly sponsored the reconstruction of the Quarters in persons of Hon. Olufemi Aikomo, Afijio local government; Hon Peter Oluokun, Oyo East local government; Hon. Wahab Waliu Adetunji (WABKEM), Atiba local government and Prince Salami Babatunde Akeem (Olukitibi) for their progressive initiative and purposive collaboration.
Earlier in his welcome address, Arch Bishop Ayo Ladigbolu, Chairman, Oyo Metropolitan, appreciated Iku Baba Yeye, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, Imam (Sheikh) Daud Igi Ogun, Prince Akeem Adeyemi, Member, representing Oyo Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, Abuja, Hon. Cephas Olorunpoto, representing Oyo East/Oyo West State Constituency, Oyo State House of Assembly, the four local government Chairmen in Oyo and other important dignitaries at the event.
In his speech, the facilitator and co-sponsor of the program, Imam Sheikh Daud Igi Ogun went down the memory lane on the conception, execution and completion of the project saying it’s first of it’s kind in all the Agro Rangers zonal bases in Oyo State and South West. He therefore charged the officers to sustain their good work in ensuring peace and tranquility in Oyo land.
In his keynote address, the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), CC Augustine Ayodeji Padonu appreciated the provision of the staff quarter for his men with a view to boost their welfare with the promise to ensure a better and harmonious relationships between our farmers and herders.
Similarly, while speaking on behalf of the four local government Chairmen in Oyo Federal Constituency, Prince Salami Babatunde Akeem (Olukitibi), Executive Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project and challenged the officers of the special unit of NSCDC to ensure that they jealously protect the people’s trust through dedication, commitment and professionalism. He also used the opportunity to rejoice with the Alaafin of Oyo Kingdom Imperial Majesty, the Iku Baba Yeye, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I on his 50th birthday celebration. “May Almighty God grant you longevity in the throne of your forefathers Sir, wishing you many prosperous years Sir” Council boss prayed.
In their respective goodwill messages, Prince Akeem Adeyemi (Skimeh) and Hon. Cephas Olorunpoto described the project as a welcome development and stated their respective efforts in bringing development to their respective constituencies.
Highlights of the event included cultural display by Agborako Cultural Troupe among others. In attendance at the commissioning were members of Oyomesi, Traditional Leaders, Religious Leaders, Political Leaders and Functionaries, Career Officers from the four Local Governments in Oyo ably led by Mr. Busari Amusat Adekunle the Permanent Secretary Oyo Zone , Officers of Nigeria Police, Immigration, NSCDC, OYSTRMA, Correctional Service and Community Leaders.
