The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has announced that the coronation of the new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, will take place within the next four weeks in Oyo Town.
The governor made this declaration during a ceremony held at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan, where he presented the instrument and staff of office to the new monarch.
Governor Makinde who congratulated Oba Owoade on his ascension to the throne, expressing gratitude for the support he has received from the people of Oyo Town since his administration came on board in 2019.
Recall that Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade’s appointment was approved by Governor Makinde after thorough consultations and divinations by an Ifa Custodian, Prof. Wande Abimbola.
The new Alaafin is a descendant of the Owoade-Agunloye royal family.
