The Oyo State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, alongside the party’s senatorial candidates, Senator Yunus Akintunde, Aderemi Oseni and Hannah Ogunesan, is set to commence the distribution of rice to traders across Oyo State as part of efforts to support their welfare and cushion the effects of the current economic hardship.
Confirming the development to journalists on Saturday, the Iyaloja General, Alhaja Saratu Aduke Konibaje, expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, Senator Sharafadeen Alli and the three senatorial candidates for prioritising the welfare of traders in the state.
She disclosed that 250 bags of rice had been received on behalf of traders across the state and announced that the distribution would commence immediately.
Konibaje described the intervention as timely, noting that many traders have continued to grapple with rising operating costs and declining purchasing power.
She said the donation would provide relief to beneficiaries.
She further urged traders across the state to cooperate with officials handling the distribution process to ensure transparency and fairness, expressing confidence that the palliative would reach those for whom it was intended.
”This gesture is another demonstration that our leaders are mindful of the challenges facing traders and other Nigerians at this critical time. We are grateful to President Bola Tinubu, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, Senator Yunus Akintunde, Aderemi Oseni and Hannah Ogunesan for remembering the trading community in Oyo State. This support will go a long way in easing the burden on many market men and women,” Konibaje said.
She added, “We have received the 250 bags of rice on behalf of traders across the state, and distribution will commence immediately. We are committed to ensuring that the process is transparent, orderly and fair so that the intended beneficiaries can receive the support without any hindrance.”
The 250 bags of rice donation and distribution follows the successful conclusion of separate empowerment programmes organised by the three senatorial candidates in their respective senatorial districts.
The programmes featured the presentation of various empowerment items and financial support to hundreds of beneficiaries as part of efforts to promote small businesses and improve livelihoods.
The rice distribution is expected to complement those empowerment initiatives by extending additional support to traders across the state, reinforcing the APC leaders’ commitment to grassroots development and economic empowerment.
