Ambassador Abdulsabur Abiola Olawore: The Technocrat Poised to Redefine Oyo’s Political Future 2027

As the horizon of the 2027 gubernatorial election gradually comes into view, Oyo State is witnessing the emergence of a figure whose profile transcends the conventional mould of Nigerian politics.

Ambassador Abdulsabur Abiola Olawore is not merely stepping into the arena, he is commanding attention as a statesman-in-the-making, armed with global experience, technical depth, and a profound connection to his roots.

In an era where governance increasingly demands competence, innovation, and global awareness, Olawore presents a rare fusion of all three.

A native of Ibadan North Local Government Area, with deep ancestral ties to Oke-Are through his revered title as Mogaji Ile Odefunke, he embodies both the cultural heritage and forward-thinking dynamism that many believe Oyo State urgently requires.

At 46, Olawore’s career trajectory reads like a blueprint for modern leadership. Trained in Civil Engineering, he has built a formidable reputation across consultancy, construction, and real estate, sectors that lie at the very heart of infrastructural and economic development.

As the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Multinational Synergy Nigeria Limited from 2020 to 2025, he has overseen strategic initiatives that reflect not only technical precision but also a commitment to sustainable growth and urban transformation.

Yet, it is his international pedigree that truly distinguishes him. In the United States, Olawore served with KPMG in Newark, New Jersey as an SAP/ERP Enterprise Resource Consultant between 2014 and 2019, a role that placed him at the intersection of technology, finance, and corporate efficiency.

There, he honed the skills required to manage complex systems and optimise institutional performance.
Before his tenure in America, he had already made significant contributions in the United Kingdom.

At Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) in Telford, Shropshire (2009–2013), he worked as an IT Engineer, directly engaging with systems that underpin national revenue collection and fiscal accountability.

Earlier still, in the heart of London’s financial district, he played a key role as a Backup Support Engineer on a major banking project involving Fujitsu/Capgemini for ABN AMRO Bank at Bishopsgate (2005–2009), gaining invaluable exposure to high-level financial infrastructure and data security systems.

These experiences have not only shaped Olawore into a consummate professional but have also endowed him with a governance philosophy rooted in transparency, efficiency, and results-driven leadership, qualities often cited as missing links in subnational administration.

Beyond the corporate and technical spheres, Olawore’s influence extends into global advocacy. As an Ambassador and member of the International Human Rights Commission, he has aligned himself with principles of justice, equity, and human dignity on the international stage. This role reinforces his image as a leader who is not only locally grounded but globally conscious.

Politically, as a committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olawore is positioning himself as a unifying force capable of galvanising both the youth and established stakeholders.

His message resonates strongly with a growing demographic of citizens who are eager for a departure from traditional political rhetoric in favour of pragmatic, solution-oriented governance.

His ambition to contest the 2027 gubernatorial election is being widely interpreted as more than a personal aspiration, it is seen as a movement towards a new political culture in Oyo State.

Supporters argued that his blend of international exposure, private sector success, and grassroots legitimacy places him in a unique position to deliver transformative leadership.

Analysts are already noting the growing momentum around his name, with many describing him as a “technocrat with a traditional soul,“ a leader equally comfortable in boardrooms in New York and community gatherings in Ibadan.

This duality, they argued, could prove right in bridging the gap between policy formulation and grassroots impact.

As political permutations continue to unfold, one narrative is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore: Ambassador Abdulsabur Abiola Olawore represents a bold departure from the status quo.

His candidacy signals the possibility of a governance model that is informed by global best practices, driven by local realities, and anchored in accountability.

With the stakes set high for 2027, the question on many lips is no longer whether he will run, but how far his vision can carry him, and whether Oyo State is ready to embrace a new era defined by competence, credibility, and courageous leadership.
