Ambassador Ademola Oyepeju Ara, has formally resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared his defection to the Accord in Oyo State.

Ara, who is from Oluyole local government announced his decision in a public declaration tagged “ARA-IRE 2027: Farewell APC, Welcome Accord Oyo State.”

The Mogaji-elect of the Oyepeju Ojo-Ara Royal Dynasty of Laagbo Compound, Oja’gbo, Ibadan, and Alata Village in Ward 05 of Oluyole Local Government Area, said his exit from the APC followed wide consultations and careful political considerations.

According to him, the decision was taken without rancour.

“There is no intimidation or bad blood from anyone. It is my personal decision after tactical consultations and internal political permutations. I foresee a brighter present and a golden future for myself and fellow emerging leaders,” he stated.

Ara,  said his move to Accord was influenced by his conviction about the party’s vision and leadership direction in Oyo State.

He threw his weight behind Accord’s governorship aspirant, Oriyomi Hamzat, describing him as “a liberator, eye-opener and way-opener for this generation.”

The Oluyole federal constituency hopeful dismissed speculations that Accord was positioning itself for political negotiations ahead of the 2027 elections, insisting that the party is fully prepared to contest and win.

“Oriyomi Hamzat represents the will of the masses against entrenched political forces. He will be on the ballot, he will be voted for and, by God’s grace, he will win,” Ara said.

Addressing youths in the state, Ara alleged that young people are often sidelined during political negotiations and urged them to align with leaders who genuinely prioritise their interests.

“If your future is uncertain where you are, join this journey. Accord is the party where the will of the masses prevails over that of godfathers,” he added.

Ara expressed confidence that he would secure the mandate to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency at the National Assembly in the 2027 elections scheduled to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on January 16, 2027.
