As the All Progressives Congress, APC, commences it’s nationwide registration and revalidation , scores of its members on Tuesday switched allegiance to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogbomoso South local government area.
This is coming barely 24 hours to the kick off of the membership exercise of the All Progressive Congress in Oyo State.
Receiving the defectors on Tuesday, Caretaker Chairman, Ogbomoso South LG, Hon Oyedokun Oyeniyi Timothy said the decision of the defectors was timely as it shows that the decampees are not ready to remain in the sinking ship.
He noted that the PDP in the state needed formidable members at the grassroots level to support the strides being achieved by the Governor Seyi Makinde led administration.
Oyedokun said,“ Engr Seyi Makinde led administration has shown what good governance his to the people of Oyo State. I believe that receiving leaders and members of APC during this time shows that people want the dividends of democracy that will lead to a better Oyo State; ”
Speaking at the event, Mr Amusan Ademola who led the defectors, said their decision to join the PDP is to strengthen the party in the area.
Amusan said he decided to lead the decampees into the PDP to support the developmental agenda of the Governor for the larger Oyo State people against a party ruled by few individuals who continue to strive for personal benefits rather than the good of the larger majority of the people.
PDP party Chairman Ogbomoso South LG, Apostle Moses Olamoyegun who was also on ground to receive the defectors promised that the party would be just to all the members of the party irrespective of when they embraced the ruling PDP in the state.
