The candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) for the Irepo/Oorelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency, Okunrin Jeje Abiodun Oni, has approved the construction of 15 boreholes across the constituency as part of efforts to improve access to potable water for residents.

The intervention, which will see five boreholes constructed in each of the three local government areas, Irepo, Oorelope and Olorunsogo was announced during Oni’s thank-you tour of the constituency, where he met with party supporters, community leaders and residents to appreciate them for their support.

Speaking during the visit to Kishi, the Chairman of Irepo Local Government, Hon. Tunde Taoheed Olayiwola, commended the APM candidate on behalf of the people of Kishi, describing the initiative as a clear demonstration of Oni’s commitment to the welfare and development of the constituency.

Olayiwola disclosed that the five boreholes allocated to Irepo Local Government would be strategically distributed across Kishi to ensure wider access to clean and safe drinking water. He added that contractors would soon be mobilised to the project sites to commence construction.

According to the council chairman, the intervention underscores the confidence the people have in Oni’s ability to fulfil his promises, even before assuming elective office.

“We believe that whatever Hon. Oni promises the people, he will always fulfil. Although he is not yet in office, he has approved the construction of five boreholes for our local government. The boreholes will be located in different parts of Kishi to serve our people, and contractors will soon commence work on the project,” Olayiwola said.

Residents and stakeholders across the Irepo/Oorelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency welcomed the development, describing it as a timely intervention that would help address the persistent challenge of inadequate access to clean and safe water in many communities within the constituency.

Hon. Oni, who recently resigned as the Director-General of the Oyo State Mineral Development Agency and Executive Chairman of the Pacesetter Mineral Development Company, is widely regarded as a grassroots politician with a strong reputation for public service, philanthropy and community development.

The approval of the 15 borehole projects was one of the major highlights of Oni’s thank-you tour across the constituency, which was organised to appreciate supporters and strengthen engagement with party leaders, stakeholders and residents ahead of future political activities.
