Hon. Gbenga Ayinde Adewusi, popularly known as Arole, has been elected as the South-West Zonal Representative of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) following a decisive victory at the election held today at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Adewusi, a seasoned sports administrator and grassroots sports developer, clinched the position with a commanding margin of 5 votes to 1, defeating his opponent, Mr. Adeyemi George, popularly known as Osawe of Ogun State.

In his victory speech, Hon. Adewusi expressed deep gratitude to Almighty God, the delegates, stakeholders, and the entire handball community for their trust and support. He described the win as a collective achievement for all players, coaches, referees, and administrators who have kept the sport vibrant across the South-West region.

He reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development, capacity building for coaches, referee training, and stakeholder unity, promising fair representation for all South-West states at the national level. Hon. Adewusi emphasized that the election was not a contest of rivalry but a healthy competition of ideas aimed at moving the sport forward.

In his goodwill message, he dedicated his victory first to Almighty God, and to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Governor of Oyo State, alongside other South-West Governors, Deputy Governors, Commissioners, and sports administrators for their continuous support to handball and sports development.

He further extended appreciation to his mentor, Mr. Samuel Ocheho, President of the Handball Federation of Nigeria, and acknowledged the unwavering support of his sponsors and associates — Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi, Engr. Lanrewaju Adeleke, and Engr. Oluwole Adebayo.

Hon. Adewusi assured players, fans, and stakeholders both at home and abroad of his unwavering dedication to advancing handball in the South-West and Nigeria at large.

“There are no winners or losers in this contest; we are one family united by our shared passion for handball. I will not let you down,” he stated.
