The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) House of Representatives candidate for Oyo Federal Constituency, Barr. Temilolu Nurudeen Ashamu (Seun TNA), has provided ₦6 million in financial support to 60 traders at Ashamu Market, Kosobo Oyo, as part of his ongoing small business support initiatives.

The intervention, held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, saw each beneficiary receive between ₦100,000 and ₦250,000 to support trading activities, replenish stock and strengthen business operations.

Speaking during the exercise, Ashamu emphasised the importance of small-scale traders to local economic activity, noting that access to working capital remains a major challenge for many businesses amid rising operating costs.

He explained that the intervention was intended to provide practical financial assistance to traders and support their efforts to sustain and expand their businesses.

The latest exercise follows a series of financial support initiatives undertaken in recent weeks.

In September, Oyo market associations operating under the auspices of “Onishe, Onishowo” received a combined ₦30 million in financial support covering the participating groups.

In another programme, over 200 beneficiaries participated in an agribusiness empowerment and training initiative at Fashola Farm Settlement, with each beneficiary allocated a ₦50,000 grant. The grants were subsequently disbursed last week.

Together, just these three interventions represent over ₦50million in financial support for traders, market associations and agribusiness participants, with others reported for Sawmillers and other associations.

Ashamu reiterated the importance of supporting small businesses and improving access to economic opportunities across Afijio, Oyo East, Oyo West and Atiba Federal Constituency.

The empowerment programme attracted prominent political leaders and stakeholders, including Sen. Monsurat Sunmonu; Hon. Shakiru Ojo, Director General of the Seun Ashamu Campaign Council; Hon. Kareem Rasheed; Prince Wale Fariogun, APM State Executive Committee member; Hon. Tirimisiyu Azeez, APM Southwest Zonal Executive Committee member; Alhaji Isiaka Adebayo, party leader in Oyo West Local Government; and Alhaji Fatai Obabi, former Chairman of Oyo West Local Government, among other dignitaries.

The interventions form part of his ongoing community engagements and economic support activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
