….Acknowledges His Critical Role in Political Journey

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, paid a heartfelt tribute to former Governor Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja during a visit to celebrate Ladoja’s 80th birthday.

The occasion, held at Ladoja’s residence on Wednesday, was marked by reflections on their shared political history and an acknowledgment of Ladoja’s significant contributions to the state’s governance.

In his remarks, Makinde emphasised that his political journey would not have been possible without Ladoja’s support.

“My political trajectory cannot be complete without mentioning his name,” he stated, highlighting Ladoja’s pivotal role in the events that led to his election as governor in 2019.

The governor described Ladoja as a mentor and a guiding figure in his rise to leadership, noting, “Daddy was the one who mid-wifed the process that led to my emergence as governor in 2019. He played critical roles.”

Makinde also addressed the complexities of their relationship, acknowledging that they have had political differences in the past.

“We may have some political differences. I beg you that wherever I have offended you, I have begged you,” he said.

The governor further remarked on the significance of the day, stating, “This is a special day for one of the leading lights in Ibadanland.”

He highlighted Ladoja’s enduring legacy and the respect he commands in the community, asserting that the former governor still has much to contribute to Oyo State.

“You still have a lot of roles to play, sir. We will continue to look forward to your leadership,” Makinde added, inviting Ladoja to remain actively engaged in the state’s development initiatives.

Makinde expressed optimism for the future, stating, “Sincerely, we will re-align and there will be development.”
