Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has arrived in Ibadan for the opposition political leaders’ summit hosted by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

He joins other prominent political figures already in the city, including former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; David Mark, Peter Obi, Tanimu Turaki, Aisha Yesufu, former Osun State Governors Rauf Aregbesola, Olagunsoye Oyinlola among others.

The summit, taking place in Ibadan, has drawn major opposition stakeholders from across the country for discussions expected to focus on national issues, political realignments, and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The gathering has heightened political attention nationwide, with analysts watching closely for possible coalition signals among opposition blocs.

Security remains tight across key locations in Ibadan as the meeting continues.

The convergence of major opposition figures in Ibadan could mark an early stage in efforts to build a more coordinated political front ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties and stakeholders begin to test alliances and shared interests.

The outcome of the summit is also expected to influence ongoing conversations around leadership direction, and strategy within opposition circles as Nigeria gradually moves closer to another major election cycle.
