    BELCOED, Ogbomoso graduates 706 students, welcomes 452 new students in 15th Matriculation ceremony

    A total of 706 students of the Best Legacy College of Education, BELCOED, Ogbomoso in Oyo State were on Friday conferred with National Certificate in Education for the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 academic sessions.

    According to Mouthpiece, BELCOED, the first private owned tertiary institution in Ogbomoso was founded in the year 2007 with approval from National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), Abuja.

    The school has graduated over 6,000 students over the years and still running several courses leading to the award of National Certificate of Education (NCE).


    On Thursday, it welcomed about 452 students in 15th matriculation ceremony.

    The Provost, Dr Alamurin Temidayo Ola speaking at the 10th convocation ceremony of the institution on Friday, said that Miss Ibitoru Francisca from the department of English/Political Science emerged overall best student for 2018/2019 academic session whilst Miss Jideofor Abigail from Business Education emerged overall best students for 2019/2020 academic session.

    Dr Temidayo congratulated the graduates on the successful completion of their academic pursuit, having met the requirements for the award of N.C.E.

    According to him; indeed, it is an end of a pursuit, but also the beginning of a new face of life and accomplishment.

    He charged the students to continue learning and exhibit good characters by ably representing their Alma Mata wherever they find themselves.

    The provost who presented award to some selected students for their smartness, character and excellent efforts during the 3-years academic program equally appreciates all lecturers, administrative staff, and other members of staff who have in one way or the other contributed to the overall achievement of the graduating students.

    The guest Speaker, Dr Adeniran A.O whose address dwelt on the theme “Kidnapping in Nigeria: The New Threat to Education Industry”, noted that one of the growing threats in Nigeria Education system now is the attacks on schools and the abduction of students by kidnappers.

    He said the challenges is fast becoming extremely difficult for students in Nigeria to attain their educational dreams and has deprived many the opportunities to acquire formal education.

    He urged federal government to declare war on the Education Industry in Nigeria as he submitted that there can’t be no smoke without fire.

    In his words, the Executive Director of the School, Hon. John Oke Ph. D, said the institution was keeping its students busy with activities that prepared them for leadership and productive dialogue as well as equipping them with skills to change their world.

    Oke urged the students to see any challenge they encounter in the course of their studies as a building block.

    He equally seized the opportunity to inform that the school has commenced their Bachelor’s degree in affiliation with Al-Hikmah University Ilorin, Kwara state for students who wishes to further their academic pursuit.

    Those present at the event included Oba Amuda Yusuf Lagbedu, Member, Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Pastor Taiwo, Police Area Commander Ogbomoso zone, Chief Imam Alfa Tedo Muslim community and host of others.
