The Executive Adviser to the Oyo State Governor on Agribusiness and International Cooperation Development, and Director General of OYSADA, Dr. Debo Akande (DBA, CMGR, FCMI), has been honoured with the prestigious Icon of Ibadan Heritage Award at the 2026 edition of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) Awards.

Dr. Akande, widely regarded as a driving force in Oyo State’s agribusiness revolution, was recognised for his visionary leadership, innovative policies, and impactful contributions to agricultural transformation and economic development. His efforts in repositioning agribusiness as a viable engine for job creation and wealth generation have significantly boosted investor confidence and enhanced food security across the state.

His strategic role in supporting the administration of Seyi Makinde FNSE Dsc GSSRS has been instrumental in advancing sustainable development initiatives, particularly through the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), which continues to attract both local and international partnerships.

In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Akande dedicated the award to Governor Makinde, describing the honour as a reflection of the Governor’s bold vision and unwavering commitment to economic expansion through agribusiness. He emphasized that the milestones achieved are products of collaboration, forward-thinking policies, and purposeful leadership.

“I receive this honour with profound gratitude and dedicate it to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, whose visionary leadership continues to inspire transformative change in Oyo State,” he stated.

Dr. Akande also expressed deep appreciation to the leadership of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), under the President General, Chief Barr. Sulaiman Ajeniyi Ajewole, for the recognition. He further acknowledged the Chairman of the Ibadan Cultural Festival Planning Committee (ICFPC), Mogaji (Alh.) Moshood Gbolagade Akere, for their unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage.

He commended the CCII for sustaining a legacy of honouring excellence, unity, and service, noting that the platform continues to inspire greater dedication among indigenes toward the growth and development of Ibadanland.

The CCII Awards remain one of the most prestigious avenues for celebrating distinguished sons and daughters of Ibadan who have made remarkable contributions to the progress of the ancient city.

The event drew an array of dignitaries, including top government functionaries, traditional rulers, captains of industry, and community leaders, all united in celebrating excellence, service, and impactful leadership.
