Children’s Day/Eid al-Adha: OBF Calls for Prayers for Makinde, Oyo State and Nigeria Amid Insecurity Concerns

The Omituntun Benedict Forum (OBF), a sociopolitical and humanitarian organization operating across Oyo State, has called for intensified prayers for peace, stability, and divine intervention for the state and the country at large.

OBF, founded by Agbaakin Olorunda-Abaa and philanthropist Oloye Benedict Akika JP, is a grassroots-driven initiative committed to uplifting lives, supporting vulnerable groups, and promoting sustainable development across communities in Oyo State.

In a statement issued by the Secretary of the foundation, OCAT, the group expressed concern that the 2026 Children’s Day and Eid al-Adha celebrations were overshadowed by reports of an attack in Ogbomoso, during which a teacher was allegedly killed while other victims remain in captivity.

The forum commiserated with the bereaved family, the government and people of Oyo State, and extended solidarity to Governor Seyi Makinde, urging sustained efforts toward securing the safe release of the abducted students and teachers.

OBF further called on Nigerians to use the Eid al-Adha period as a moment of deep reflection and prayer for peace, divine protection, and comfort for families affected by insecurity across the country.

The group also raised concerns over the growing wave of insecurity nationwide, warning that the persistence of violent attacks and kidnappings poses an increasing threat to communities in the South-West region and beyond.

According to the statement, “This is a painful moment for Oyo State and Nigeria. As we mark Children’s Day and Eid al-Adha, we must not overlook the urgent responsibility of protecting lives, especially those of our children and educators who represent our future.”

OBF urged the Federal Government to strengthen security architecture, enhance intelligence gathering, and take urgent, decisive action to address the rising insecurity across the nation.

Despite the prevailing challenges, the forum encouraged citizens to remain hopeful, prayerful, and united, stressing that lasting peace and stability can be achieved through collective effort and responsible leadership.

The statement reaffirmed OBF’s commitment to humanitarian service, community development, and continued advocacy for a safer and more prosperous society.
