Circular Road Stakeholders Express Renewed Confidence in Government Committee

Peace appears to be returning to the dispute surrounding properties affected by the Ibadan Circular Road project, as the Public Relations Officer for the concerned stakeholders expressed renewed confidence in the committee led by Engr Abduljelyl Adekunle Karheem MCIArb, MCIOB, MCABE,
    Mogaji Adanla

Speaking on Impact Business Radio’s political programme, Bottom Line, anchored by broadcast journalist Anuoluwapo Ominrinde and monitored by Goalpoacher News on Saturday, Pastor Tosin Ogunsola said there were early signs that the newly constituted Circular Road Stakeholders Engagement Committee could restore fairness to the process.

Pastor Ogunsola, who represented residents and property owners along the Ibadan Circular Road corridor, noted that the committee’s first engagements showed promise.

“For the first time in a long while, we are beginning to see signs that the government truly wants to listen. Engr. Abduljelyl Adekunle Kareem has demonstrated a level of sincerity and maturity that gives us hope that justice will be done.”

He added that while stakeholders had endured months of uncertainty, the tone set by the committee has helped reduce tension.

“What we are asking for is simple, equity and fairness. “We believe that with Mogaji Adanla leading this process, there is a real chance that our grievances will be addressed transparently and responsibly.”

Pastor Ogunsola also praised the government for constituting the committee, describing it as “a step that has given many of our people renewed confidence in due process.”

He encouraged the committee to maintain open communication channels and ensure that all affected property owners are carried along at every stage.

The stakeholders’ spokesperson reiterated that cooperation, rather than confrontation, remains their preferred approach.

“We want development, and we support the Circular Road project,” he said. “All we ask is that the government ensures our rights are protected as the project progresses.”

The Circular Road Stakeholders Engagement Committee is expected to continue its consultations in the coming weeks as part of broader efforts to resolve outstanding issues and ensure smooth execution of the strategic infrastructure project.

Recall that the stakeholders” engagement was a result of the peace meeting initiated by Governor Seyi Makinde with the property owners affected by the circular road project at Ologuneru, last week.

During the meeting, the governor made a firm commitment to resolve all misunderstanding and miss information that emanated from the issue.
