The National Council under the supervision of the Civil Society Organisations on Community Advancement and Humanitarian Empowerment Initiative (CSCHEI) has urged Nigerians to unite in support of the country’s development efforts, stressing that collective action across political, ethnic and religious divides is essential for national progress.

The statement, which was signed by the Executive Director, NGOs and CSOs, Ambassador Prince Dr Chukwuemeka Mgbemere, was issued following the Council’s 11th meeting held in November 27th, 2025 at the CSCHEI office in Abuja.

It reaffirmed the need for solidarity in backing the President and advancing national cohesion, adding that, “It is imperative that all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation, tribe, or religion, come together to support the President and work towards a common goal of national unity and progress.”

The council resolved to support the government in monitoring and evaluating all government projects and programmes to ensure transparency and accountability.

It stated that it would assess the implementation of the national budget to ensure alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to promote the effective utilisation of resources.

The council also pledged to collaborate with relevant government agencies on climate actions advocacy and the integration of the UN-SDGs across all sectors.

According to the council, it will evaluate the performance of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and make its findings public.

It further committed to ensuring that all NGOs, CSOs and CBOs are duly registered and accredited, warning that any organisation operating illegally or submitting unverifiable petitions would face sanctions.

The council added that it would continue to work with security agencies to support the fight against insurgency and to promote national security.

Reiterating its call for unity, CSCHEI said Nigeria was at a critical point in its history and that the challenges facing the nation required a shared commitment.

“We must recognise our shared identity as Nigerians and celebrate our diversity. Let’s focus on our strengths, address our weaknesses, and work towards a common goal of national prosperity,” it said.

The council urged citizens to embrace peace and tolerance, promote unity and inclusiveness, support national development initiatives, reject divisive tendencies and violence, and cultivate a culture of respect and empathy.

It added that by doing so, Nigeria could become “peaceful and secure, prosperous and equitable, just and inclusive”.

Ambassador Mgbemere reiterated the call for harmony and progress, saying: “Let’s show love, promote peace, and work towards a brighter future for all Nigerians. God bless Nigeria.”
