COVID-19: FAYOSE SEEKS MASKS, HAND GLOVES FOR POLICE

A former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has urged the Inspector- General of Police and heads of other security agencies in the country to ensure that their officers enforcing the lockdown order across the country wear masks and hand gloves for protection against the dreaded coronavirus.
Fayose , who said the protective materials should be provided for the security agents , lamented that “ lives of security agents , especially policemen were being put at risk by allowing them to go on duty without adequate protection .”
The former governor, in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Saturday by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, said , “ Apart from mask and hand gloves , security agents must be provided with hand sanitizers to prevent community transmission of coronavirus.
“ By not protecting themselves against the virus , the security agents are capable of transmitting the virus to the same members of the public they are supposed to be protecting. ”
The former governor said everything must be done to prevent COVID – 19 from spreading to the rural communities with limited access to sanitation and healthcare services .
