As the political landscape of Oyo State is beginning to heat up ahead of the 2027 elections, stakeholders from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are intensifying their efforts to gain control of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) structure. Goalpoacher News reports.

This scramble came amid growing speculation about the ADC’s potential role as a kingmaker in the upcoming election.

Recent meetings among key APC and PDP figures have revealed a strategic focus on aligning with the ADC, which, despite being a smaller party, holds significant sway in Oyo’s political dynamics.

Political analysts suggested that whoever secures the ADC’s support could dramatically alter the electoral landscape, particularly in a state where the margins have historically been razor-thin.

Sources within the APC who spoke with Goalpoacher News indicated that party leaders are considering a series of alliances and negotiations with ADC members, aiming to present a united front against the PDP.

“Our goal is to consolidate our efforts and ensure that the ADC is not merely a footnote in the election but a pivotal participant,” said an APC insider who spoke on condition of anonymity.

On the other hand, PDP stakeholders are equally keen on courting ADC leaders, recognising the party’s grassroots connections and influence.

“We believe that with the right partnership, we can harness the ADC’s reach into communities that have felt neglected,” a senior PDP official stated, emphasising the need for inclusivity and collaboration.

As the tussle unfolds, both parties are ramping up their outreach strategies, focusing on community engagement and addressing pressing local issues.

The ADC, acknowledging its newfound importance, has called for unity among its members to navigate these negotiations effectively.

Meanwhile, political observers are closely monitoring the situation, noting that the ADC’s decision could lead to a realignment of power in Oyo State.

With the 2027 elections on the horizon, the battle for control of the ADC is set to intensify, highlighting the intricate interplay of alliances in Nigeria’s ever-evolving political arena.

As developments continue, stakeholders and citizens alike remain vigilant, aware that the decisions made in the coming months could shape the future of Oyo politics for years to come.
