The Chairman of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) in Ibarapa North Local Government, Hon. Olayiwola Matthew Ojoogun has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media claiming that seven out of ten party leaders endorsed Hon. Bisi Akande as the party’s chairmanship candidate for the forthcoming local government election.

Addressing journalists today, Hon. Ojoogun clarified that the report does not reflect the position or decision of the party, urging members of the public and party faithful to disregard the publication in its entirety.

According to the party chairman, APM in Ibarapa North had earlier adopted a consensus power-sharing arrangement among its major political blocs to ensure unity, fairness and inclusiveness within the party.

He explained that, under the agreement, the first political group was allotted the House of Assembly ticket and subsequently presented Hon. Lateef Akorede as its candidate. He noted that Hon. Bisi Akande belongs to this same political group.

Hon. Ojoogun further stated that the second political group was allocated the chairmanship ticket, and after due consultations, Hon. Sefiu Rasaki emerged as the consensus choice of that bloc in line with the party’s agreed arrangement.

The party chairman stressed that this resolution was jointly reached and accepted by the party leadership to promote peace, equity and harmony among members ahead of the election.

He therefore urged party members and the general public not to be misled by unverified reports capable of creating confusion within the party, reaffirming that APM remains united and committed to upholding its collective decisions and internal democratic processes.

Hon. Ojoogun called on all stakeholders and supporters to remain calm, law-abiding and focused on strengthening the party as preparations continue for the forthcoming local government election.
