A member of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Alhaji Rasak Gbadegesin Kareem, popularly known as Agbeti, has resigned his appointment in the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Goalpoachernews gathered that Rasak tendered his resignation after securing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket to contest the House of Representatives seat for Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire Federal Constituency.

Contrary to speculation, he is not defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kareem, who is also aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike’s faction within the PDP, submitted his resignation in a letter dated July 6 and addressed to Governor Makinde through the Chairman of the Oyo State Advisory Council, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN).

In the letter, the former Deputy Chief of Staff during the administration of the late former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala stated that he was stepping down from the council but remained a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Although he did not publicly state detailed reasons for his resignation, sources familiar with the development said the decision was informed by his emergence as the PDP’s House of Representatives candidate for the Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Kareem, a prominent political figure in Ogbomoso, served as Deputy Chief of Staff under the late Governor Alao-Akala before joining Governor Makinde’s administration as a member of the Oyo State Advisory Council.
Effort to speak with Olaniyi Steven Omituntun to confirm if Agbeti has secured the party’s ticket proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
