Hon. Dr. Wasiu Ajani Olatunbosun, the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Oyo State, no doubt has revitalized and transformed the state’s tourism sector, positioning it for long-term success and global recognition.
For decades, Oyo State’s tourism sector existed with little tangible impact. However, since Dr. Olatunbosun’s appointment, he has redefined and reinvigorated the sector, introducing a new era of growth and innovation.
His dynamic and innovative leadership spirit, coupled with the unwavering support of the visionary governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, has resulted in remarkable achievements that have not only boosted the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) but also attracted significant local and international investors.
One of the key milestones under Dr. Olatunbosun’s stewardship is the organization of the first-ever Oyo State International Tourism Summit (ITS). This groundbreaking event opened the door to numerous investors, placing Oyo State firmly on the map as a key destination for tourism and culture in Nigeria.
In addition, Dr. Olatunbosun pioneered the inaugural Egungun Festival, a cultural celebration held across various zones in the state. This festival has showcased the rich heritage of the Yoruba people, bringing global attention to Oyo State as a hub for cultural tourism.
Another laudable achievement is Dr. Olatunbosun’s leadership in championing the renowned Sango Festival, which has now garnered international attention through recommendations from UNESCO. This global recognition of Oyo State’s cultural assets is both commendable and historic.
It’s one thing to appoint someone to a position, but it’s another to have that person deliver extraordinary results.
Indeed, Oyo State is experiencing a new dawn under the capable leadership of Dr. Wasiu Ajani Olatunbosun. He has successfully repositioned the state’s culture and tourism sector, ensuring that it thrives not only today but for future generations.
We have never seen it this good.
