Drivers, Vendors Alerted: Oyo PMS Chairman, Tommy Sounds Alarm on Cholera Outbreak, Urges Caution

Following recent reports of a Cholera outbreak in some parts of the country, the Chairman of Oyo State Park Management System (PMS), Wasiu Tomiwa Omolewa popularly known as Tommy, has issued a public health advisory to drivers and food vendors operating in the state’s bus terminals.

In his speech, Tommy urged individuals to adhere to basic hygiene practices, such as cooking food thoroughly, eating only in safe environments, and maintaining a clean environment.

“It is important to note that Cholera can be prevented, and the best way to achieve this is to adhere to preventive measures,” Tommy added.

The PMS chairman emphasised the crucial role that drivers and food vendors play in preventing the spread of the disease, given their frequent interactions with the public.

He urged them to take the necessary precautions and to also share this information with their customers.

Tommy further stated that PMS would be working closely with the Oyo State Ministry of Health to ensure that adequate preventive measures are put in place in all bus terminals and parks.

He noted that while there have been no reported cases of Cholera in Oyo State so far, “we cannot afford to be complacent. We must all work together to prevent the spread of this disease.”

To help reinforce his message, the PMS chairman urged his fellow citizens to support government efforts by staying informed, following public health advisories, and seeking immediate medical attention in case of any suspicious symptoms.

“I believe that with the collective efforts of all stakeholders, we can prevent the spread of Cholera and maintain the health of our people in Oyo State,” Tommy concluded.
