The legislative Arm of Egbeda Local Government, under the leadership of the Leader of the House, Hon. Ibrahim Oladebo Simple has made historical development in their sitting at the parliament hall.

The legislative House during their sitting suspended Hon. Arowolo Kolawole Jimoh indefinitely for abstaining from his Civic duty and constitutional right.

At the plenary held on the 8th of April, 2024. The Legislative Arm suspends the councilor representing ward 09 of the Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Kolawole Jimoh Arowolo indefinitely on the charges of gross misconduct, breach of trust, violation of right, absconded of duties, andĀ  the disrespect to legislative values and the entire people of Egbeda Local Government.

The Councilor representing Ward 09 has failed to protect the interest of ward 09 and Egbeda people while he takes the social activities above his civic and constitutional duties of which he was elected.

There is no denial about the fact, and it is in fact, that “every legislator must be able to attend the plenary sitting and must not in anyway failed to attend three (3) consecutive sittings, for which the legislative should be conversant with, that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, (as amended), is the grundnorm upon which every other laws drawn strength from, and any law that is inconsistent with the constitution, shall, to the extent of such inconsistency, be null and void. This position is captured in section 1(3) therefore.

It is disrespectful not to just the legislative arm but also the entire people of Ward 09 (constituents) and Egbeda Local Government as the Councilor representing Ward 09 Hon.

Kolawole Jimoh Arowolo put the interest of Egbeda people below his social activities and overriding the legislative arm of Egbeda Local Government with his negligence, nonchalant attitude, unconstitutional and unconcerned attitude by rejected the legislative arm invitations and letters took to his house in multiple times, and also instructed his family members to always rejected any letter from the legislative arm of Egbeda Local Government by the local government administrative personnel.

He found it unnecessary to associate himself with the legislative arm and also to attend the plenary sittings since the month of April of the year 2023, In this attempt he demonstrated the unconcerned attitudes and duties of his people who put trust in him and voted him to represent their interest in the legislative arm, the Councilor representing Ward 09 has also kicked against his people interest and absconded from his civic and constitutional duties. And for the benefit of the people of Egbeda Local Government, the house deliberated on the matter and sees as a matter of urgency and constitutional duty to suspend the erring Councillor, Hon. Arowolo Kolawole Jimoh who had abandoned his primary assignment and constitutional duty which is detrimental to the constituents, the constituency and Egbeda Local Government as a whole.

Consequently, a motion was raised by the House Chief Whip, and the Councillor representing Olosan/Ajiwogbo Ward 04, Hon. Salaudeen Sharafadeen Iyanda to suspend the erring Councillor, Hon. Arowolo Kolawole Jimoh indefinitely. Meanwhile, the Councillor representing Monatan/Wakajaiye Ward 07, Hon. Kolapo Kolawole Oladimeji seconded the motion and condemned the unconstitutional behaviors of the suspended Councillor.

As the Speaker determines which suspension motions the House will consider in Legislative. The House Leader recognized

Members offering suspension motions and he granted the prayers of the legislators in accordance with the constitutional backing.

    The legislators in attendance were:

    1. Hon. Alaba Abdullahi (Deputy Leader of the House, and the Councillor representing Erunmu Ward 01).

    2. Hon. Noah Ajao Oludotun (Councillor representing Ayede/Alugb Ward 02).

    3. Hon. Salaudeen Sharafadeen Iyanda (The Chief Whip of the House, and the Councillor representing Olosan/Ajiwogbo Ward 04).

    4. Hon. Rasheed Afees Oorelope (Councillor representing Olodo/Kumapayi Ward 05).

    5. Hon. Kolapo Kolawole Oladimeji (Mr. Parliament: Councillor representingĀ  Monatan/Wakajaiye Ward 07.

    6. Hon. Mufutau Sharafa Bakare (Majority Leader of the House, and Councillor representing Osegere/Awaye Ward 08).

    7. Hon. Olakanmi Olushola Adekunle (Councillor representing Olubadan Ward 11). With the Leader of the House, who presided over the plenary.

According to the Councilors, sitting at the plenary, they frown at the incessant unconstitutional and unruly behaviours of Hon. Arowolo Kolawole Jimoh who had failed to attend the constitutional assignment not less than six (6) sittings of the Legislative House.
