Eid-el-kabir: Makinde’s aide, Olojede hosts students’ leaders across Oyo State
The Special Assistant to Oyo State governor on Students’ Affairs, Victor Olojede, has hosted students’ leaders of tertiary institutions across the state in the mood of the celebration of this year’s eid-el-kabir.
Speaking at the event held in honor of the governor of Oyo State, Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde, at his residence, Aerodrome, Samonda, Ibadan, Olojede shared with participants the feats achieved by the governor so far in the area of education.
He stated that some of the achievements include sole ownership of LAUTECH, reduction of the tuition fee by 25 per cent, upgrade of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to a degree-awarding institution, increase in the subvention of College of Agriculture, Igboora, decentralisation of LAUTECH campus to Iseyin, among others.
In his words: “I am really happy to witness a day like this with you all. It is really a great time for us to come together in a joyous mood to celebrate this year’s eid-el-kabir and I pray that we shall witness more on earth.
“As we are all aware, the governor has done a lot for us and we can all testify to that fact. Before now, in the annals of Oyo State, what Governor Makinde has achieved in the area of education surpass that of past administrations in the state. So, we need to be grateful that we have a pacesetter as a governor.”
Olojede equally appreciated the support the student organisations have given to the governor, saying that “I want to urge us to do more.”
He also pointed out that the construction and renovation of model schools, distribution of compendium to students by the governor is a testament to the fact that education is taking a new shape in the state.
