Ekiti 2026: My Relationship With Fayose Now Cordial – Olujimi

A former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Senator Biodun Olujimi, has said her relationship with ex-Governor Ayo Fayose is now cordial. Punch reports.

The former Senate Minority Leader said both of them are united in their political direction following her defection to the All Progressives Congress.

Olujimi’s remark signals a significant shift in her political alliance with Fayose, a figure she had openly clashed with during her time in the Peoples Democratic Party.

She also publicly endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, praising his bold decision-making and unwavering commitment to transformative policies.

The former Senate Minority Leader said both of them are united in their political direction following her defection to the All Progressives Congress.

Their long-standing rivalry had defined Ekiti PDP politics for years.

Olujimi, who recently left the PDP, made the disclosure during an interview on Beyond the Headlines, a TVC programme aired on Monday.

“I think it’s perfect. What is important is that we’re working towards the same goal,” she said when asked about her relationship with Fayose.

According to her, the shared objective is to ensure the continuity of governance at both state and federal levels, with President Bola Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji being supported for second term.

She said, “I think the goal is to get the president to continue with his good works and ensure that a second time is given to him so that he can complete whatever he has started.

“And that the governor of Ekiti should also continue the good works and the humility and extreme commitment he has to Ekiti state. I believe if both of us can achieve that, then we would have done well.”

The former lawmaker said her recent defection to the APC was motivated by her admiration for President Tinubu’s ability to take bold decisions and remain committed to them, even under pressure.

Olujimi added that the bold and tough decisions are already producing results.

“I have always been a proponent of government taking very tough decisions and standing behind those tough decisions.

“This is the first time I will see a government take tough decisions, stand by it, and run with it. And that is the reason for which I have decided to pitch my tent.

“All those tough decisions that we’re taking are yielding fruit gradually. And it’s easing up.

“I believe that if all hands are on deck, and all competencies are brought to bear on what is on ground, the best will be given to Nigeria. And I know that President Bola Tinubu is doing that right now,” she said.

On what she hopes to achieve from her defection, Olujimi maintained that she is more interested in contributing to the APC than in personal gains.

The former lawmaker said, “I have come to add my voice and add value to the party.

“I’ve come to work hard for the party. Whatever comes along the way will just be God’s doing. And that’s the way I am.”
