End Bad Governance Protest: Arapaja Appeals to Protesters to Avert Chaos During Protest

The Deputy National Chairman (South) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja has appealed to the organizers of the planned ‘EndBadGovernance’ protest slated for 1st August, 2024 to organise their action in order to avert chaos and anarchy that might befall the nation if it is hijacked by the hoodlums.

Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja stated that this appeal became imperative in view of the fact that the planned protest which is aimed at addressing the severe economic hardship Nigerians are facing since the removal of petrol subsidies by the federal government is gaining momentum on social media and may be hijacked by hoodlums if care is not taken.

In a statement issued by Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja but made available to newsmen through his Personal Assistant, Bamitale Ibrahim, Ambassador Arapaja stressed that while protest is a legitimate right of every citizen to express their grievances, the organizers must do such by ensuring ordeliness, peace and preventing any form of violence which may lead to replication of the recent unrest in Kenya or the experience at the aftermath of EndSARS’ protest of 2020 in Nigeria.

He said: The anticipated protest if not well planned could lead to violence and widespread disorder if hijacked by hoodlums as was witnessed during the 2020 EndSars protest and the recent protest in Kenya. The devastating impact on anarchy is better imagined than experienced.

Therefore, I appealed to the organizers of the planned protest and my fellow Nigerian citizens to exercise great restraint against any action that can lead to anarchy, war and chaos. It is my prayer that God Almighty will touch the heart of our leaders to listen to the yearnings of Nigerians and find lasting solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting the nation.” Ambassador Arapaja prayed.
