ENFORCE THE USE OF SANITIZER, OTHERS – GOVERNMENT URGED

An appeal has gone to Government at all levels to enforce the use of sanitizers, face masks and observe social distancing to curb the spread of COVID 19.

“Transporters, religious centres, schools, social gatherings should be made to obey COVID 19 protocols with strict sanctions”.

This appeal was made during the send forth ceremony organised by NUJ Oyo State Council, for Former Chairman of the Nigeria Union Journalists, Oyo State, Comrade Solomon Olugbemiga Ayoade who retired as the Director of Public Enlightenment and Mass Mobilization from the Oyo State Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.

The former NUJ Chairman said transporters in particular should be made to comply with COVID 19 protocols for they carry peoples of different backgrounds and exchange currencies from hand to hand, vehicle seats need to be sanitized to prevent the spread of corona virus. The existence of corona virus is real and had been confirmed throughout the globe.

He said All hands must be on deck to ensure the reduction of the spread of COVID 19 if not totally eradicated to enchance productivity, economic growth in all spheres of life.

“The government, philanthropists the riches and well to do in the society should expend their resources in curbing the spread of the disease instead of keeping them for elections and worldly affairs”.

He further called on members of the public to support Makinde-led administration in the betterment of Oyo state and in his struggle to make life bearable for all and sundries and to move the state forward.

“journalists in Oyo State are enjoined to cooperate with comrade Demola Babalola leadership in sanitizing the union and in his effort to promote peace, harmony and progress of the union”.

He commended the state council of Oyo NUJ for celebrating him on the account of his retirement from the civil service of Oyo State after his meritorious service and promised that though retired but not tired in serving both Oyo state and Nigeria Union of Journalists in any capacity.
