The Oyo State House of Assembly has called on the state government to construct and upgrade Primary Health Care Centres across 351 wards in the state.

The call followed the report submitted by House Committee on health, at the plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Mohammed Fadeyi.

Submitting the report, Vice Chairman of the committee, Honourable Babalola Abiodun revealed that in actualizating Governor Seyi Makinde’s target of one health care centre per ward, the committee had met with officials of the state primary health care board.

The House therefore urged the Executive Arm to release funds for renovation and construction of Primary Health Care Centers in wards across the state.

The house further recommended that the state government through the State Primary Health Care Board recruit qualified health workers.

During plenary, the Assembly also charged the government to take proactive steps in addressing the menace of encroachment of lands and indiscriminate erection of kiosks within and around public schools in the state.
