Today marks five years since the passing of an extraordinary man, Senator Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi. Though the pain of your loss still lingers, so does the strength of your legacy. You were many things to many people: a leader, a reformer, a mentor, a family man. But to those of us who had the privilege of knowing you closely, you were truly one of a kind.

As Governor of Oyo State, you raised the bar of governance and left a legacy that remains visible in every corner of the state. Your passion for development was unmatched; your commitment to infrastructure, urban renewal, environmental transformation, and security reshaped our beloved Oyo State for the better. Your wit, eloquence, intelligence, and strategic thinking set you apart. You were a firm leader who stood boldly for what he believed in, no matter whose ox was gored. Your rare tenacity endeared you to allies and earned the grudging respect of critics.

I witnessed firsthand the depth of your attention to detail, your strategic mind, and your unwavering dedication to delivering results. You were a man of grit and grace, one who combined vision with action. You led with charisma, governed with intellect, and served with courage. Gradually, we are seeing the modern Oyo State you envisioned and worked tirelessly to build.

Beyond politics and public office, you were deeply committed to your family. You loved and cherished your dear wife, the ever-gracious First Lady – Dr (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi and stood as a pillar of strength to your children and grandchildren. That devotion, quiet steadfast, and sincerity were some of your most admirable traits.

Five years on, we do not only mourn your absence, we celebrate your life. We celebrate your courage, your ideas, your achievements, and your enduring legacy. You live on in the transformed skyline of Oyo State, in the lives you touched, and in the lessons you left behind.

May the Lord Almighty continue to grant you eternal rest, and may your memory forever remain a source of pride, strength, and inspiration.

Keep resting Oga. You are dearly missed, but never forgotten.
