    Gov Makinde’s Activities In Last 3 Weeks Showcase Unprecedented Commitment To Oyo’s Progress, Development

    In three weeks filled with dynamic engagements and impactful decisions, Governor Seyi Makinde demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the welfare, diplomacy, and development of Oyo State. From addressing labor challenges to participating in high-level diplomatic events and overseeing crucial developmental projects, the governor’s activities have underscored his dedication to the progress and prosperity of the state.

    1. Prioritizing Welfare:
    On November 6, Governor Seyi Makinde addressed the challenges faced by workers and pensioners in Oyo State. In response to the hardships caused by subsidy removal, he announced a wage award of N25,000 for workers and N15,000 for pensioners over a six-month period. This decision aims to alleviate the burden on citizens, ensuring their well-being during challenging times.

    2. Diplomacy and Recognition:
    Governor Makinde received recognition on November 7 when the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Oyo State Chapter decorated him as the Grand Patron. This acknowledgment highlights the governor’s dedication to empowering and developing Nigerian youth, showcasing his influential role in promoting solidarity among different states in Nigeria.

    3. Regional Unity and Collaboration:
    Continuing his commitment to fostering regional unity, Governor Makinde met with the Yoruba community in Bayelsa on November 8. The purpose was to solicit support for the re-election of Governor Diri Duoye, emphasizing the governor’s influential role in promoting solidarity among different states in Nigeria.

    4. Prestigious Recognition:
    On November 10, Governor Seyi Makinde was conferred with the prestigious title of Jagunmolu of Ondo Kingdom. This honor recognizes his exceptional contributions to the development of Oyo State and showcases his influential role in regional affairs.

    5. Diplomatic Engagement and Economic Growth:
    Expanding his horizons beyond Nigeria, Governor Makinde attended the intra-African Trade Fair in Cairo, Egypt, on November 14. During this event, he showcased investment opportunities in Oyo State and signed a funding agreement with Afrexim Bank and Access Bank, fostering economic growth and development.

    6. Academic Excellence and Sustainable Development:
    On November 16, Governor Makinde chaired the 12th Zik Lecture Series at the Nnamdi Azikwe University in Awka, Anambra State. The theme, “Reclaiming Zik’s World: Climate Justice and Africa’s Sustainable Development,” emphasizes the governor’s commitment to addressing climate change and promoting sustainable development in Africa.

    7. Religious Harmony and Community Bonding:
    The week concluded with Governor Seyi Makinde welcoming His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and His Majesty Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero to Ibadan for the commissioning of the Adogba Central Mosque. This symbolizes the governor’s commitment to promoting religious harmony and fostering unity among diverse communities within Oyo State.

    8. Infrastructure Development:
    Governor Makinde inspected the ongoing construction of the 110 km Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road. Securing additional funding from Afrexim Bank and Access Bank, the completed Circular Road will provide an alternative route, reducing traffic congestion within Ibadan and contributing to the state’s economic growth.

    9. Healthcare Expansion:
    Represented by Deputy Governor Barr. Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Lawal, Governor Makinde launched the Saki Muslim Hospital, furthering the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare facilities across the state.

    10. Legislative Support:
    The Oyo State House of Assembly approved Governor Makinde’s N352.2B 2023 supplementary budget, demonstrating legislative support for the governor’s developmental agenda.

    11. National Representation:
    Governor Makinde’s Deputy, Barr. Bayo Lawal, represented him in Abuja for the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, emphasizing the governor’s active participation in national economic discussions.
