

The Executive Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Hon. Emmanuel Oluwole Alawode has urged youths to be hopeful of the future and concentrate on skills that can make them succeed in life .


Hon. Alawode said this during the sensitisation programme tagged ‘Youth orientation for positive change’, organised by the Local Government, during which the Super featherweight Boxing Champion, Ridwan Oyekola Scorpion was invited to sensitise youths in Ibadan South East Local on how to make use of their skills and talents to become great in life.


The council boss stated that the Super featherweight Boxing Champion, Scorpion was invited to sensitise the youths on how to use their talents to succeed in life, using his own life story of an okada rider turns Super Featherweight Boxing Champion.
Hon. Alawode concluded, reiterating that cultivating a positive mindset empowers youths to overcome obstacles, pursue their goals with confidence and create a life filled with meaning and fulfilment.


In his lecture, Ridwan Oyekola revealed that before life smiled on him, he had tasted the bitter end of existence. He once hawked drugs, then, poultry which he left when he fell into a pool of water while hawking and the chicken died. He then lost all he had made from the business. This led to his becoming an okada rider but today, he is a National Boxing Champion, to the glory of God.


Scorpion enjoined the youths not to relent in their struggle to succeed in life, be focused, develop their skills and keep praying for success in their endeavors.
Ridwan Oyekola then advised parents to support their children in developing their skills because, parent play vital roles in shaping the skills and competence of a child.
