Hon Lawee Meets With Kabiyesi Osobia and WECMA Founder To Establish Maritime Institute At Imakun-omi

 

The Distinguished Hon. Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Ogun Waterside State Constituency, Hon. Lawal Samusideen Adekunle (Lawee), towards his love for education and commitment to the development of Ogun Waterside State Constituency, met with HRM Oba Kazeem Adesina Salami, Ilufemiloba 1, Osobia of Imakun-omi Kingdom at his VGC abode, alongside the founder of Western Coast Maritime Academy (WECMA), Capt. Adekunle Azeez Ogunyemi, on Sunday 21st April 2024.

Western Coast Maritime Academy (WECMA), according to the Founder, is an internationally recognized Federal government accredited Private Tertiary Institution, offering ND, HND, and Professional Certificates, located at Iworo-Ajido, Badagry, Lagos State.

The institution was established with the mandate to develop human capital and raising sound minded students and professionals in the maritime Industry for successful maritime careers and maritime jobs with Marine companies, Maritime corporations, and Maritime government organizations such as Navy, Customs services, Ports Authority, and NIMASA by providing practical training, advanced knowledge, wide skills, and solid certifications.

It could be recalled that Hon. Lawal awarded scholarships to 20 students from Ogun Waterside into the institution in the year 2023.

The meeting which lasted for over an hour, intended to establish a branch of the institution at Imakun-omi, Ogun Waterside, to facilitate great developmental opportunities that can engender economic prosperity in the local government area.

The Kabiyesi Osobia had wholeheartedly accepted the offer and thrown his weight behind the new development brought by the Distinguished Hon. Lawal Samusideen Adekunle.

Hon. Lawal who was highly elated with the submission of Alayeluwa, Oba Kazeem Adesina urged other Royal Majesties and community leaders in Ogun Waterside to emulate the ideology of the Osobia of Imakun-omi, maintaining that the Ogun Waterside of our dream is achievable through our collective supports and encouragement.

The Lawmaker also noted that the establishment of Maritime Academy in Ogun Waterside will surely give the indigenous Watersiders the opportunity to benefit from the newly created Ministry of Blue Economy both at the state and federal level.
