The Lawmaker representing Ibadan North Constituency 1 at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Olufunke Comforter Adeniyi-Olajide, JP, has written a heartfelt tribute to the Late Music Icon and Nollywood Actress, Dr. Onyeka ONWENU, who transited on the 30th of July, 2024.
The legislator referred to the late Amazon as “Aunty Onyeka ONWENU” and she said she’ll be missed. Her message read:

What a wonderful soul she was. An enigma, mentor and role model to many. Aunty Onyeka Owenu served humanity with all that she had. So talented and very generous.
Just as a seer, she gave instructions on how she would loved to be buried when she passes on and it was so touching to hear of her demise after performing at an event.
Gladly, she truly enjoyed what she loved to do best and that was what she did last before departing this world.
The renowned singer/songwriter, actress, human right activist, journalist and politician was a woman of many parts and she made significant positive impacts in the society and the Nation at Large.
No doubt that she is a lover of her dear state and country and that she displayed without any apology.
Aunty Onyeka Onwenu, our own veteran musician, you will be greatly missed and we pray that all that you left behind will not be destroyed but pray that they keep growing and getting better even as your legacy lives on.
