Oyo East Local Government chairman, Hon Oluokun Peter Olusola has today Thursday 29th May, 2025 commissioned the newly built Lock up shops named after Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo East Local Government
The vice chairman, Hon Wasiu Mustapha (Waspha) in his remark said Engr Seyi Makinde shopping Complex which was constructed by the Hon. Oluokun Olusola-led Òyó East Local Government administration, thanked the LG chairman for naming the complex after our amiable Governor. He appreciated Sen Sunmonu for her supports all the time
The leader of the House, Hon Ajala Yusuf said in his remark “It is with immense gratitude and deep appreciation that we gathered here today on this momentous occasion. It is an honour for us that this modern shopping complex is being named after Governor Seyi Makinde. We expressed our heartfelt thanks to the chairman of Oyo East Local Government, Hon. Oluokun, and his executive for this distinguished recognition.
According to the Secretary to the chairman, Hon Adekola Nurudeen who said: today we are gathering for the opening of the modern commercial hub that will transform economic activities in this local government and beyond. modern shopping Complex like this one represents the future. They create a more conducive environment for trade, enhance economic development and improve the overall business experience for traders and buyers alike.
The chairman in his address, appreciate Senator (Dr) Monsurat Olajumoke Aduke Sunmonu for her unwavering supports from the inception of this administration. He said mama gave us opportunity and she is still not relenting on her efforts to make us better everyday. The chairman prayed for the protection of God upon mama from the evils of the day and the night
The Oyo East Chairman, Hon Oluokun, stated that the newly constructed modern shopping complex at Òyó East Secretariat Complex would boost the council’s economic growth.
He said the facilities would rapidly transform the environment into an economic hub and attract traders within and outside the local government for business transactions to enhance the local and economic growth of the Òyó East.
He said that the newly constructed shopping complex was in line with Governor Seyi Makinde’s agenda to work with local government authorities across the state to deliver modernised markets with the view of fostering economic growth and development in the state.
“Oyo East has been known for economic activities with this new development we are not only boosting local commerce but also positioning Oyo East as a key player in regional trade this Complex will attract people from different part of the state to facilitate economic exchanges and contribute significantly to the growth of Oyo State economy.
“This beautiful shopping Complex serves as an example of what we can achieve when we prioritise economic employment of our people, such as this one are critical not only for trade but also provision of modern trade facilities
“As we commission this significant project, we are reminded of the power of career officer collaboration and the positive impact it can have on our economic and social landscape. We look forward to the opportunities this new facility will bring, enhancing trade, creating jobs and fostering community spirit”, he stressed.
