Hon. Olusola Adeleke Preaches Unity, Love As Igboora Celebrates 2024 Twins Festival

 

 

The Executive Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Olusola Adeleke warmly received guests and dignitaries at the grand finale of the 2024 Igboora World Twins Festival.

The global event held in Igboora, Oyo State, celebrated the town distinction as the “Twins Capital of the World,” drawing tourists, officials, and twins all over Nigeria and across the globe.

The 2024 Igboora World Twins Festival continues to gain global recognition, celebrating the cultural heritage of the town and reinforcing its identity as a symbol of multiple births and unity.

Hon. Olusola Adeleke while speaking at the grand finale of the 2024 Igboora World Twins Festival held on Saturday at the Methodist Grammar School Playing Ground, Saganun, Igboora charged indigenes to support the progress and development of Ibarapa Central Local Government.

In a statement made available to newsmen by Sodiq Adesina, the Personal Assistant to the Executive Chairman, Adeleke expressed joy and pride in hosting the renowned festival, which celebrates Igboora’s unique position in the world due to its high number of twin births.

The Council Chairman citing global recognition, quoted the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) that “almost every house in Igboora has at least one set of twins,” making the town a symbol of life’s beauty, unity and love.

“This festival is not just a celebration of twins; it is a celebration of the unity and rich heritage that twins represent. It is a moment of pride not only for Ibarapa Central but for Nigeria and the world. Our twins symbolize love, unity, and the beauty of life itself.

“Our twins festival represents a unique cultural heritage, and as we celebrate, I urge all of us to come together and work for the progress of Ibarapa Central. Our collective efforts will surely lead us to a brighter future,” he added.

Adeleke expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin, member representing Ibadan North-East and South-East Federal Constituency, who served as the Chairman of the occasion. Also, he acknowledged the unwavering support of the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, and the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Ademola Obafemi Ojo, Hon. Anthony Adepoju, member representing Ibarapa Central & North Federal Constituency, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, Oyo State Commissioner for Youth & Sports, for their roles in ensuring the success of the festival.

The LG Chairman equally recognized his colleagues, the 33 Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State, said their collective efforts contributed to the success of the festival.

Hon. Adeleke further called on indigenes both at home and abroad to support the development of Ibarapa Central, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in uplifting the local government to new heights.

“The festival represents a unique cultural heritage, and as we celebrate, I urge all of us to come together and work for the progress of Ibarapa Central. Our collective efforts will surely lead us to a brighter future,” he said.

The presence of the royal father of the day, His Royal Majesty Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro, who is also a twin, was a special highlight of the event, adding great significance to the celebration.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including Barrister Adebayo Lawal, the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, who represented the Executive Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde (FNSE). Hon. Adeleke acknowledged Governor Makinde’s unwavering support and commitment to the development of Oyo State, particularly in promoting culture and tourism.
