The Executive Chairman of Egbeda local government, Hon Sikiru Sanda, on Thursday, commissioned the reconstructed Maku Police Station Area Command, Egbeda, Ibadan.

Hon Sanda, while speaking at the commissioning ceremony said his administration committed millions of naira to aid the reconstruction of the edifice to the standard of Area Command Office.

The Council boss reassured the people residing in Olootu, Ebenezeri, Amosun, Maku communities that they can now sleep with their two eyes closed stating that the Area Command will pave the way for the creation of more Divisional Police Stations.

He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for empowering local government chairmen to embark on projects that have direct impacts on the lives of residents of their various councils.

Hon Sanda appreciated the support from the Vice-Chairman, Hon Oladebo Simple, other cabinet members and stakeholders especially the community leaders who contributed to the success of the project.

“I feel honoured and elated to stand before the mammoth crowd to Commission this historical Project today, the Area Command Office Complex of Nigerian Police Force. The project which was initiated and launched some twelve (12) years ago by Itesiwaju Central Landlord Association and was precipitated by the need to beef up the security architecture of the Area. This Community witnessed the dastard killing of one of their Sons, a 300 Level Student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) by a gang of cultists who trailed the boy home and terminated his life which made today’s occasion historical and will forever be in the record of the people of this Community.

” It will not be in order not to remind you all that the security situation of the country today has been the concern of the governments at all levels especially, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde FNSE, who prioritized the issue of security and has been sounding it to the hearing of all the Local Government Chairmen to handle it with utmost priority. Therefore, this has accounted for more reasons Egbeda Local Government under my leadership decided to take up the responsibility of completing this Police Station. Which was started by the Community.

“Meanwhile, it is necessary to re-assure the people of these Areas; Olootu, Ebenezeri, Amosun, Maku Communities, etc. just to mention a few of them that they can now sleep with their two eyes closed because the operations of this Command under which there would be many Divisional Police Stations, will in no doubt yield positive results, while the Local Government will leave no stone unturned to give necessary support to make both the operations and working environment comfortable and efficient.

“I want to thank the Almighty God for making this dream a reality. We will also continually appreciate the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for the opportunity given to me and my Cabinet members to be part of this wonderful project.

” Also, the Commissioner of Police of Oyo State and his team for their relentless effort and continuous monitoring of this project up to this level.

“On the other hand, I want to make a passionate appeal to all the Community Leaders/Executives to lend a hand of fellowship to the Area Command and to furnish them with necessary information and intelligent gatherings for them to perform optimally.

” I want to use this opportunity to thank the Vice Chairman, the Legislative Arm of Egbeda Local Government and all my Cabinet Members, Our Leaders and Our Ardent Supporters for standing by us at all times. I thank you all for your patience and wish you journey mercies back to your various destinations.”

Speaking earlier, the Area Commander, Moniya Area Command, ACP Vaughan O. Omololu extolled Hon Sikiru Sanda for the good job he has been doing in Egbeda Local Government, especially in the area of security and fostering unity among various security agencies.

Vaughan appreciated the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP. O. Sonubi Ayodele PSc from granting the request of Hon Sanda to upgrade the Police Station to Area Command.

The event was attended by the Vice-Chairman, Hon Oladebo Simple, Supervisory Councillor, Special Assistants, PDP leaders, community leader, clerics among other stakeholders.
