Notable stakeholders in Ibadan have reacted strongly to recent comments made by Diran Odeyemi against Governor Seyi Makinde, describing his remarks as provocative, unnecessary, and politically motivated.
The reactions follow an interview in which Odeyemi allegedly criticized the governor and linked him to the ongoing crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He also harped during the media chat the the governor’s stubbornness has hindered his greatness in the state; Odeyemi also remarked that Governor Makinde’s leadership style is like a one man show, and runs the state without getting meaningful contributions and advice from others but rather behave like an emperor.
These Statements traced to Diran Odeyemi has continued to generate mixed reactions across political circles in the state.
Two prominent Ibadan Mogajis, Abass Oloko and Ademola Olasomi Oladosu, condemned Odeyemi’s remarks, describing him as a rabble-rouser with no meaningful political relevance; rather, an errand boy to Nyesom Wike camp.
Mogaji Abass Oloko, while speaking on the matter, said, “Diran Odeyemi has lost political relevance. He is only making noise to remain politically visible, but the people know the truth about Governor Makinde’s performance and leadership.”
They further accused the former PDP chieftain of acting as an agent of destabilization, alleging that he is being influenced by political interests aligned with Nyesom Wike.
According to them, such actions were dangerous and could deepen existing cracks within the PDP structure.
Mogaji Ademola Olasomi Oladosu also reacted, stating that, “We see Odeyemi as someone being used by external forces to destabilize the PDP in Oyo State. His statements are not only misleading but also dangerous to party unity.”
He added in another remark, “The people of Oyo State will not allow anyone to turn the state into a battlefield of unnecessary political wars. Governor Makinde has our full support, and that will not change.”
