Prominent Ibadan traditional Leaders and Chiefs, Mogaji Abass Oloko and Mogaji Ademola Oladosu, have congratulated Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe on his nomination as Minister-designate, while commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing what they described as a competent son of the soil to serve the nation.
The Mogajis, in a statement jointly signed on Thursday, said Tegbe’s nomination has brought honour and pride to Ibadanland, noting that the appointment reflects the President’s commitment to merit, competence, and national development.
They said: “This appointment is a clear recognition of competence, dedication, and years of distinguished service. Ibadanland is proud of Tegbe, and we believe he will justify the confidence reposed in him.”
They described Tegbe as a seasoned technocrat, accomplished administrator, and experienced professional with the capacity to deliver in public office.
According to them, his nomination did not come as a surprise considering his impressive track record in governance, business strategy, institutional reforms, and economic development.
They also stated: “President Tinubu has demonstrated wisdom in selecting capable hands to drive critical sectors of the economy. The power sector requires someone with depth and experience, and Tegbe fits that profile.”
They noted that Tegbe currently serves as Director General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, where he has played a key role in strengthening developmental cooperation between Nigeria and China.
The Mogajis also highlighted his previous role as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he handled strategic responsibilities across Africa and the Middle East.
They further added: “We are confident that if confirmed, he will bring lasting reforms to the power sector, particularly in addressing grid stability, investment challenges, and electricity supply issues.”
The Ibadan chiefs urged the minister-designate to remain focused and committed to delivering results that would justify the confidence reposed in him, while praying for wisdom and success as he prepares for the national assignment.
Tegbe hails from Jegede compound, Labo in Ibadan, Oyo State, with ancestral roots in Akiode via Olorunda in Ona-Ara Local Government Area.
He is a First-Class graduate of Civil Engineering from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (1988) and a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
He is also an alumnus of prestigious global institutions including Harvard and INSEAD.
