Leaders and principal executives of Ward 5 in Ibadan North Local Government have unanimously adopted the incumbent councillor, Hon. Ajayi Hammed, as the consensus candidate for the forthcoming local government election following extensive deliberations by the ward leadership.
The consensus was reached at a meeting attended by nine leaders and five principal executives of the ward. One of the leaders, who was unable to attend physically, participated virtually.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants unanimously resolved to return Hon. Ajayi Hammed for a second term in office as the Councillor representing Ward 5.
The resolution was formalised through an endorsement document signed by the leaders and principal executives, signifying their collective resolve to support the incumbent’s re-election bid and reaffirming their confidence in his leadership.
Among the leaders of this critical Ward which accounts for a whopping 68 Polling Units who endorsed the consensus candidate were; Hon. Waheed Gbede, Iya Kasumu,Hon (Mrs) Toyin Balogun,Hon. Comforter Olajide,Hon. David Olaniyan Akoro,Hon Dewumi Adeagbo, Hon. Julianah Nwachukwu, Hon Oladimeji Popoola aka OBJ and Hon. Hamdy Mustapha
Also lending their support were members of the Ward 5 Principal Executives, including Chairman Tunde Okanlawon, Vice Chairman Jame Babalola, Secretary Lukman Okanlawon, Youth Leader Shiyanbola and Woman Leader Akinbola Modinat, all of whom appended their signatures to the endorsement document.
The leaders said the decision to adopt Hon. Ajayi Hammed as the consensus candidate was informed by the need to tow the path of wisdom culminating in stability towed by His Excellency who in his wisdom gave automatic return tickets to all members of the House of Representatives and House of Assembly
Furthermore, all nine contestants who signified an interest are all worthy of effective representation at the local government legislative arm but to prevent division and ranciur within the ranks particularly with the imminent elections, the Leaders in their wisdom endorsed the incumbent to return.
With this development, the Leadership and membership of the Ward 5 are on the same page, resolute and committed to delivering a resounding victory to all the party’s candidates in the forthcoming Presidency, Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, House of Assembly,Chairmanship and Councillorship elections
